Dance of the Clown Loaches

This is the YouTube description accompanying this video. It was filmed in September, just 1 week before they succumbed to ich. "55-gallon community tank as of September, 2012. Just did a big overhaul and got it back into shape. And yes, I agree, fake plants are tacky. I had live ones for a while and then had my second child and couldn't keep up. Substrate is fluorite. This is a video of the early morning clown loach dance. The three participants are Beer Belly, Bug Eye and Tiny. Eventually Gladys, the boss loach, comes out of her log to break it up and tries to usher them all back to the driftwood, with moderate success. After I stopped filming they fell into line and followed her home for the morning. EDIT, 9/21/12: This morning all four of my lovely, 8-year-old loaches died of ich. Let it be a lesson to all fishkeepers: a quarantine tank for new arrivals is a MUST if you want to protect your fish. I worked on this tank for a decade. Those loaches were older than my marriage. Protect your fish. Quarantine! My loaches are dead because I was an idiot. The school of cardinals was expanded to 10 before they all succumbed to ich as well. I suspect they were the carriers. Kilifish removed (I had a genuine brain fart when I put kilis in with cardinals..duh), large airstone added for extra oxygenation."
