Only because everybody else does it. My tank has a long way to go.
This morning I decided to go into the 6.6 with my thread and start attaching the anubias before things went any further. It's cycling, so what else do I have to do? I am still not 100% sure that I love the rocks over, say, driftwood. But I'll give it a whirl. I can always change it up.
I think I've settled on the idea of Jerkface living there with a group of cherry shrimp. I could, technically, put an African Dwarf Frog in there too. I don't want to upset Jerkface though. He seems very personable, even more so than Rhaegar.
Meanwhile, my ideas for the 10 gallon include heavy planting, a hunk of driftwood, and the guppies. I would like to put in some miniature cories and maybe some small red tetras, of some sort. It's Andy's tank, but I bet I can talk him into almost anything. Hah! "It's Andy's tank."
Andy's tank is limited, somewhat, by lighting. I do have a 6,700k CFL bulb in there. I don't see why that wouldn't grow mostly anything easy I wanted to try. My wish list for all tanks is more red, more jungle. In the 55, the wisteria is dropping roots all over the place. One bunch has already taken root in the substrate, because when I realized, suddenly, that I'd left the metal tab on the plant and tried to get it up, it didn't come. Anyway, that's encouraging. I have ludwigia enmeshed in the wisteria, but so far that doesn't seem to be doing much.
Wish list:
another crypt for the 55
red stuff or yellow stuff for the 55
micro sword for the 55 - carpet
lush planting for the 10 - I'm thinking of seeing if my driftwood would serve as a tree that I could hang with moss
While I was typing this entry, Bruce the Black Skirt (who has been acting very weird today) went and lay down in the wisteria like he/she was dead. The fish has been hanging out under Rhaegar's log and the other skirts, black and white alike, have been chasing the hell out of him/her. I've never seen this behavior before and am baffled. I can't tell if it's spawning behavior or not, but that's where I'd put my money. The plants have brought out entirely new fish personalities in the last month. It's exciting, though I don't want to see anybody drop dead.
