Remodel Lust

I do not feel well today. I'm incredibly dizzy. I had plans for the tank(s), but they'll have to wait until I feel better.

As much as I like the look of my big tank right now, I think I can do better. I'm talking about hardscaping. And maybe aquascaping, too. I don't want to uproot the plants once they get further established, and I think only a few adjustments need to be made. I certainly need to get to work on tying down the java ferns and anubias. (Anubii?)

I think I'm lacking either a really awesome piece of driftwood, or the right rock formation. I'm very nervous, given past disasters, about putting too many rocks in the tank. (I know, I *know* the tank is designed to hold plenty of weight. I just saw this video and it astounded me.)

I also know I need to focus on the aquascaping rule of thirds.

Meanwhile, changed water last night and today in the hospital tank. Came down this morning to find the loach on his side, doing that thing that loaches do that terrifies their owners. He *seems* okay but I can't say for certain. The nitrites and ammonia were both too high in his little tank.

In other news: A nitrite spike in the 6.6! Hooray! The process is underway. I think my reading paid off. The combination of a) plants, b) high temperature, and c) falling water has given the process a boost. The ammo is still off the charts, but the fact is, we have nitrite, people.
